SuperSpan

Leading the world in tension shade structures, since 1980.
SuperSpan technology provides protection solutions for today's harsh environment.

Mount Druitt

Internationally approved and accepted as a canopy protection, SuperSpan shadecloth structures can be erected without any limitation to size or terrain. Custom made and versatile SuperSpan canopies can be enlarged, without costly redesigning, dismantled and relocated, or stored for future use. Different cloth types available provide a range of solutions for excess UV, Hail, and Wind, as well as opportunities for architectural structures.

The SuperSpan concept has been engineered for strength and simplicity. The basic construction is modular; comprising a series of square panels of the highest quality, shadecloth, utilising the best U.V. stabilisers available. Each square is bound with webbing attached to CAD patterns and connected to high strength buckles at each corner.

The stretching of the fabric and its flexibility are critical to the performance. The cloth is held taut at all times, and during wind gusts there is no 'flapping' which can cause high stresses in the fabric. Wind forces are transferred efficiently from panels to the webbing, then to the columns, and then to the footings. The strength of the structure lies in the manner in which the connections transfer the forces between each of the major structural members. To maintain optimum levels of quality and protection all SuperSpan structures are regularly monitored under actual, and most severe, conditions. Outstanding findings from these tests showed that SuperSpan structures have a hail loading of 0.1 KPa (2p.s.i) and that evidence suggests that SuperSpan structures are the most wind resistant commercially built shadecloth constructions in the world.
